This is the registration page for the ANCESTORS WRITERS ROOM fall workshop series.

Before registration, please read through the following space agreements and commitments:

✓ this space honours a free p/alestine and respects our anti-zi0nist jewish friends

✓ we welcome artists who do not use generative AI to produce their visuals or artwork. this is different than using AI as part of disability related equipment, or the ways that aspects of AI is unavoidable in daily life. but, in places we have the power and option to avoid AI, we do

✓ this space honours trans, disabled, queer, lived experience, and non-normative relationship styles (including poly, monogamy and kink). we honour the fact that, for many of us (Shaunga included), our ancestral storytelling practices come from sex workers, or villages where forms of ‘sex work’ and erotic labour was held as a beloved part of earth-honouring economies, and thriving village life

✓ we lovingly and firmly hold each other accountable to the healing and thriving of Blackness, Black feminist spiritual traditions, and Black trans femininity

✓ you understand we will be discussing and sitting with mature subject matter, including grief, loss and the complexities of Spirit and liberation. we welcome folks who feel well resourced and excited to participate on this level

✓ you understand that this space is reserved for folks who identify as Black, Indigenous, people of colour, and non-white mixed race (ie those who do not identify as “white” are welcome to attend)

✓ please let us know any accessibility needs you have to attend the series. we will do our very best to accommodate. depending on the cost of accessibility support, we may not be able to provide for all requests. we are open to discussing creative options for those who are serious about attending.

✓ a note on shared accessibility and transparency: over the last 3 years Shaunga has lost significant income, opportunities, community and relationships for a number of reasons, including: the nature of her labour advocacy and commitment to a free p/alestine, unexpected disability and health needs, a transitional season of life, and the nature of her spiritual practise (which is criminalized and stigmatized in many ways)

Shaunga will be doing pop-up fundraising events throughout the fall to raise money for her accessibility needs, projects and programming, as well as for our host, Wildseed.

These fundraising events are designed to create more nourishment, enrichment, healing and wealth for queer & trans communities and liberation as a whole. To learn more about Shaunga’s thriving village pot of honey, VISIT THIS PAGE (link coming soon)

We will accept payment of $350 via cash, e-transfer or credit card/paypal to Shaunga’s thriving village fundraiser. Payment is required up front to attend the series. You are welcome to pay before the series starts, or at the end of the first class.

Spiritual Safety & Alignment: We understand that sharing time together, energetic exchange, and visions for liberation is a vulnerable, courageous and intentional matter. If for whatever reason you don’t feel this series is the right fit for you after attending the first class, we welcome your discernment. In this case, we suggest you make an offering to support your participation in the first class (suggested $40). After the first class, $350 is required to attend the rest of the series.

For those who are very serious and committed to attending the full series, and money up front is a genuine barrier, please indicate this in your registration form, in the “accessibility” section. There are other ways that reciprocity may be welcome and desired, including support with Shaunga’s fundraiser.
